This thousand dollar gold coin is the first ever Hong Kong gold coin, first minted for the Queen's visit to Hong Kong in 1975. The coin proved popular, as they were minted each year until 1987, and a few special years after that. Each year features the specific animal from the Chinese lunar calendar.
