This Mint 1981 box-set features a single gold Proof Five Pound (or Quintuple-Sovereign) coin. This coin weighs the same as a regular quintuple-sovereign, at 36.61grams and 22-carat gold (91.67% fineness). This proof has been struck using specially selected blanks and highly polished dies. During striking, the coinage dies exert enormous pressure on the coin blank, with at least two separate blows (or strikes), ensuring that the impression has extra clarity. Complete with its own booklet/Certificate of Authenticity. Bound in a good looking brown leather case.
