The 2023 Silverback Gorilla 1oz silver coin is produced by the Scottsdale Mint and features a unique design of the iconic male mountain gorilla which changes every year.
On the reverse of the coin is stunning depiction of a silverback holding an infant gorilla in his arms. These majestic creatures, distinguished by their silver-grey backs and powerful physique, create a secure environment within their groups, composed of adult females and young ones. Through gentle interactions, playful engagements, and protective instincts, silverbacks foster profound connections with their offspring. Despite their size they exhibit immense tenderness and dedication in the upbringing of their young. This intimate relationship underscores the significance of conservation efforts to safeguard the remarkable existence of these gorillas in the wild.
The reverse side of the coin includes an inscription giving the year of minting ("2023"), the weight ("1 troy ounce" / 31.1g) and the purity of 999. The obverse side of the coin features the coat of arms of the Republic of the Congo with the coin's face value of 500 central african francs below.
This coin is minted by the Scottsdale Mint for the Republic of the Congo with a mintage of 75,000 coins.
