A scarce coin.  1821 coin features the laureate head portrait of George IV by Pistrucci on the Obverse.  The Reverse has the George Dragon design by Pistrucci.  Text reads "GEORGIUS IIII D:G" , "BRITANNIARUM REX F:D".

Not one of Britain's better monarchs, his reign as King lasted 10 years from 1820-1830. However, he was Prince Regent from 1811 when his father George III at 73 lapsed into final insanity. Gradually his reputation deteriorated causing the country much embarrassment, he became a national liability and but for the industrial revolution which was growing in strength the country would have been bankrupt.

During the King’s reign there were two distinctive heads. We have available this first type struck in 1821.
This example is fine condition and a scarce gold sovereign.
