A rare Half Sovereign from the reign of King George VI, with a mintage of only 5,501. This was the only year that George VI Gold Sovereigns were minted. .
The coins were part of a four-coin gold proof set (also known as a Specimen Set) released to celebrate the coronation of King George. Unusually, it has a smooth edge rather than being milled.
This coin has been graded by NGC, the world's largest grading service, as PF62. Serial number 2093351-017.
