A Collectable, high grade hammered Silver Groat of King Edward the IV from his first reign of 1464-1470, Light Coinage issue. This coin features the mint mark of a "Rose" denoting that it was struck between the years 1464 or 1465. By the neck there are "Quatrefoils" marks on either side. The reverse shows CIVITAS LONDON indicating the City of London and being struck at the Tower hill mint. This would have been the same time as King Edward married his wife Elizabeth Woodville, the widow of a commoner.

Obverse
Light Coinage issue 1464-70, First Reign. Crowned bust facing. Quatrefoils either side of neck. Mm Rose EDWARD DI GRA REX ANGL Z FRANC.

Reverse
Short Cross Fitche'e with three pellets in quarters. One quarter with extra pellet. Mm Rose. CIVITAS LONDON.
