This Silver Groat is the Second Coinage with the Renaissance Style Bust on the obverse with a crossed shield on the reverse.

Henry VIII is remembered most for ordering the execution of some of his six wives. Henry reigned from 1509 to 1547 and produced the most important revolution in English history, the split with Rome and the constitution of the Church of England, governed by the King himself. A distinctive portrait of Henry can be seen on these silver groats.
