A very collectable, high grade gold Half-Ryal of King Edward IV, from the Light issue coinage 1464-70. This coin features the 'Crown' mintmark demonstrating it was struck in the year 1467 or 1468, in London. The obverse has the King in armour, standing facing in a ship. He has a sword in hand, and a flag with the letter "E" for "Edward". The reverse features a pleasing design of a central sun with Lions and Crowns, within a treasure. King Edward the IV came to the throne aged 18, and proved himself to be an able monarch. During his reign, which was disrupted for one year in 1471 - when Edward IV was forced into exile and Henry VI was restored to the throne. He managed to restore the system of justice and improve royal funds, creating a period of relative peace. This stunning Gold coin, from the first third of his reign, would make an excellent investment to any coin collection.
