BullionByPost is proud to offer numismatic collectors a growing range of rare collectable coins, including this milled Gold 1776 George III Guinea, in good-fine condition.  This gold coin features the fourth bust of George III on the obverse along with the text GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA (George III by the grace of God) and a Crowned Shield of Arms, Lion of Nassau at the centre on the reverse, with the wording M B F ET H REX F D B ET L D S R I A T ET E and the date of 1776.

You will receive the actual coin pictured.

George III was the third Hanoverian king of Great Britain. His life has been well documented as he was known as the mad King after his illness got the better of him in 1810. It is now believed that he was suffering from porphyria. This shield back guinea is not as well known as the more common spade type.

These first type guineas which were minted between 1763-1786, with an ornate shield on the reverse. A little scarcer as well. In good fine condition.
