1817 George III Silver Halfcrown

A high grade, collectable Silver milled Halfcrown of King George III dated 1817. On the obverse is the "small bust" facing right, and the reverse features a plain, scalloped shield of arms. The reign of King George the Third saw shortages in Silver and Gold, due to global conflicts, and had to undertake emergency issues. This problem was resolved with the great "new coinage" issue of 1817 of which this Silver Halfcrown is a stunning example, in bright about Uncirculated condition.
