The era of the half guinea came to an end during the reign of George III. First issued in 1669 and finally ending in 1813. The spade type was issued between 1787-1800 and was eventually replaced by the half sovereign in 1817.

There are small traces of this coin having been mounted at some point in the past.

Probably one of the best know gold coin reverses with the spade like shield. First issued with a legal tender value of £1.

Fifth laurel Bust.
