BullionByPost is proud to offer numismatic collectors a growing range of rare collectable coins, including this milled Silver Maundy Money Set, in uncirculated condition. This Maundy Money Set features the Edward VII Bare Head Bust on the obverse and a Crowned 1, 2, 3, and 4 surround by a wreath on the reverse.
Maundy money started to be issued during the reign of Charles II. It was not until George V that it was suggested that the King should hand the coins personally to the deserving himself in 1932. Thus a tradition that has been maintained by following Monarchs until this very day.
As with all Maundy money, each set contains 4 coins. The fourpence (1.9g, 18mm), threepence (1.4g, 16mm), twopence (0.9g, 13mm) and penny (0.5g, 11mm). All in 0.925 silver.
A fascinating item for your collection of real historical interest.
