BullionByPost is proud to offer numismatic collectors a growing range of rare collectable coins, including this milled Silver Maundy Money Set, in uncirculated condition. This 1939 Maundy Money Set features the George V Bare Head Bust on the obverse and a Crowned 1,2,3, and 4 surround by a wreath on the reverse.

Maundy money started to be issued during the reign of Charles II. It was not until George V that it was suggested that the King should hand the coins personally to the deserving himself in 1932. Thus a tradition that has been maintained by following Monarchs until this very day.

As with all Maundy money, each set contains 4 coins. The fourpence (1.9g, 18mm), threepence (1.4g, 16mm), twopence (0.9g, 13mm) and penny (0.5g, 11mm). All in 0.500 silver.

A fascinating item for your collection of real historical interest.
