This £5 Queen Victoria gold Quintuple Sovereign appeared in her Golden Jubilee year of 1887 to celebrate 50 years on the throne. The reverse features the standard George and Dragon design.
One of the most important series of coinage ever produced was for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It was a celebration of coinage to match such an occasion. Completely different to the earlier young head coinage it was heralded as a great success and warmly received.
