BullionByPost is proud to offer numismatic collectors a growing range of rare collectable coins, including this milled Silver Halfcrown of George IV 1820-1830, in very fine condition. This Silver Crown features the George IV Laurel Head Bust on the obverse and the famous St George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci on the reverse.

Not one of Britain's better monarchs, his reign as King lasted 10 years from 1820-1830. However, he was Prince Regent from 1811 when his father George III at 73 lapsed into final insanity. Gradually his reputation deteriorated causing the country much embarrassment, he became a national liability and but for the industrial revolution which was growing in strength the country would have been bankrupt.

Due to the financial problems at the time there was a shortage of silver to produce the now scarce coinage of George IV.
