A collectable, high-grade hammered silver Penny of King Henry III, struck at the Canterbury mint by the moneyer Gilbert between the years 1248 and 1250.
The obverse features the neat round facing portrait, with a beard of three pellets either side of a larger centre pellet, indicating the coin class of 3b. The reverse shows the voided long cross, with three pellets in each quarter, and the name of the moneyer and mint. This coin is in about very fine condition, and has good facial details. It is a good example of this class.
Obverse
Class 3b. Neat round bust, beard three pellets either side of larger centre pellet. HENRICS REX.
Reverse
Voided long cross, three pellets in each quarter. GILBERT ON CANT.
