A collectable grade, hammered silver Shilling of King Edward VI. This coin has the crowned facing bust, with a rose to the left, and VI in Roman numerals - representing sixpence - to the right. With the mint mark "Tun" noting date 1551-3, and being struck at the infamous Tower mint of London. The reverse has a cross over the Royal shield. King Edward the Sixth ascended the throne aged nine and became affectionately known as the "boy" King. He suffered from poor health, and much unrest when he reigned, which is evident through his coins. Even, dark toning, with strong face details and a good rim.
