A collectable Silver Shilling of King Charles the First from the mid 17th century. The mint mark "Crown" on both sides indicates being minted at the famous Tower mint in London, either in 1635 or 1636. King Charles the First's style of governing led to the English civil war of 1642-1651 between the Royalists supporting King Charles and the Parliamentarians, known as the Roundheads.
This shilling has XII behind the bust in roman numerals representing number 12 (twelve pence). It is of good even tone and has clear details and could well have been carried in to battle.
Condition: Good Fine.

Reverse: Round garnished shield with no inner circle mint mark "Crown" CHRISTO AUSPICE REGNO
