A collectable high grade silver sixpence of George the Second. You will receive the actual coin pictured. Please hover over the image to zoom in on details.
The obverse side of the coin bears the old head of King George, with the laureate crown and draped bust. The text reads 'GEORGIVS II DEI GRATIA'. The legend "Lima" below the bust signifies that this coin was struck from silver that was looted from the Spanish colonies by a British privateer, most likely Admiral Anson.
The reverse of the coin features cruciform shields of England and Scotland, France, Ireland, and the Electorate of Brunswick and Luneburg with the Star of the Garter in the centre and around the legend M B F ET H REX F D B ET L D S R I A T ET E 1746, with the date broken by a crown.
The translation of the latin text on the obverse and reverse reads: 'George II by the Grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Duke of Brunswick and Luneburg, Archi-Thesaurius and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire'.
