Description

A collectable grade silver Threepence of Queen Elizabeth I. This coin, of the first milled issue, has the tall narrow bust, facing right. Dated 1562, with the 'Star' mintmark. The reverse has the square topped shield, with date 1562 above. This coin was produced in a screw press, in a horse drawn mill. The technique became known as "Mill" money and became the first milled coinage of England, in which machinery took over from being hand struck.

Milled issue, tall narrow decorated bust, with medium-sized rose behind mintmark of star. ELIZABETH.D.G.ANG.FRA.ET.HIB.REGINA.

Reverse
Square topped shield, quartered by cross moline to outer edges, with date 1562 above shield 'Star' mintmark. POSVI DEVM.ADIVTREM. MEVM.
