Description

A collectable grade silver Half Crown of King George the Second, dated 1745. This coin features the old and laureate draped bust, facing left, with the word "LIMA" below. The reverse has crowned cruciform shields with roses and plumes in the angles. The word "LIMA" below the king's bust on this coin represents that the silver, captured from the Spanish by British privateers, had been mined near the Peruvian city of "LIMA". This was the king's political statement to celebrate the successful harassment of the Spanish controlled colonies.
