This Gold Proof £5 coin (aka Quintuple Sovereign, or Crown) was issued to celebrate the Diamond Wedding of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

Princess Elizabeth, as she was then known, and Philip Mountbatten were married on November 20th, 1947 at Westminster Abbey. Philip was made Duke of Edinburgh earlier that day, and Elizabeth ascended to the throne give years later in 1952.

Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of the Queen is on the obverse (front) of the coin, while the reverse was designed by Emma Noble. The image is of the famous rose window of Westminster Abbey, and features the words 'TVEATVR VNITA DEVS' - 'May God guard these united' (kingdoms).

The edge of the coin reads MY STRENGTH AND STAY, in reference to their marital vows.

This Gold Proof 2007 Five Pound coin is beautifully presented in a good-quality presentation case, and comes complete with a certificate of authenticity and a full colour booklet, which discusses the coin and marriage of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. 2,350 sets were originally sold by the Royal Mint.
