This interesting coin is the latest design in the ongoing series of Star Wars coins featuring characters from the iconic movies. The series is produced by the New Zealand Mint on behalf of the island nation of Niue. Only 100,000 coins were minted in this design.
This 2022 Darth Vader 1oz silver coin contains 31.1 grams of 999 purity fine silver. The reverse features a close up image of Darth Vader holding a lightsaber, with a further silhouette of Vader in the background. Darth Vader appears in the first six Star Wars films, as well as having a cameo at the end of Rogue One, and is one of the most famous characters in movie history.
The coin's obverse shows the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley whose initials IRB can be found beneath Her Majesty's neck. Niue and 2022 also feature around the edge, as does the coin's $2 (NZD) face value.
