A 1718 Quarter Guinea from the era of George I.  George I was born 28th May 1660 and was a very reluctant king.He refused to speak English and kept England out of war for his entire reign. The coins of the first Hanoverian king bear the mark of the Duchy of Brunswick and Lineberg in one of the four shields with the crown of Charlemagne in the centre.

This 1/4 Guinea gold coin features the Laurel Head of George I on the obverse, along with Crowned cruciform shields, sceptres in angles on the reverse.
