Holland’s largest newspaper De Telegraaf recently published an article about the increasing number of the Dutch population buying physical gold bars and coins. According to the author, gold is becoming increasingly popular with the younger generation as they become more financially aware and obtain their financial education from the internet. Many now prefer to buy physical gold rather than depositing their savings in traditional bank accounts.
The Dutch youth are even accumulating gold as an informal pension after witnessing their parents pensions underperform and their standard of living fall drastically upon retirement.
