A 2008 Proof gold Sovereign coin - only 12,500 proof coins were minted that year. This 2008 Proof Sovereign is in mint condition, and features the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. This proof has been struck using specially selected blanks and highly polished dies. During striking, the coinage dies exert enormous pressure on the coin blank, with at least two separate blows (or strikes), ensuring that the impression has extra clarity.
