This is one of the first Sovereign coins of the modern era, which have been struck since 1817, and formed the basis of all Sovereigns up to the current issues. As one of the first Sovereigns this is now a scarce coin. The 1820 Sovereign features the laureate head portrait of George III by Benedetto Pistrucci on the obverse. The reverse has the George and the Dragon image also designed by Pistrucci. Text reads "GEORGIUS III D:G" , "BRITANNIAR:REX F:D" "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE".
