This 1675 Half Guinea features Charles II second Laurel Head on the obverse and a crowned cruciform shield with sceptres in angles on the reverse.

This was a new denomination which started life with a value of £1 for the full guinea but some years later it was increased to the more common value of £1.1.0. First struck in 1669 these milled English coins have disappeared from the general market and have shot up in price.
