Everyone has heard of the famous gold Spade Guinea, but did you know that Third Guineas also existed? Probably not, because they are unusual coins and not often available. Issued between 1797-1813, and valued at six shillings and eight pence, they are the last of the Guinea era.
Above is an 1803 Third Guinea from the reign of King George III. This is the only coin that features the Crown Reverse with the Laurel Head of George III.
