The British £1 coin that we all know, struck in 22 carat gold by The Royal Mint. This 2010 Proof gold £1 coin features the City of London's Coat of Arms. Provided in a handsome box with certificate.
The Royal Mint issued a series of Capital City £1 coins for each of the four capitals of the United Kingdom. The series ran between 2010 and 2011, with gold proof coins for each London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Belfast. Each coin features the other three coins in small format at the base of the reverse to show their relation.
Stuart Devlin designed all four coins in the series. The Latin motto of the city appears on the edge, reading DOMINE DIRIGE NOS or 'Lord, direct/guide us'.
