The British £1 coin that we all know, struck in 22 carat Gold by The Royal Mint. Provided in a handsome box with certificate. Only 1,000 of these coins were issued.
The Royal Mint issued a series of Capital City £1 coins for each of the four capitals of the United Kingdom. The series ran between 2010 and 2011, with gold proof coins for each London,Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Belfast.
The designs were by Stuart Devlin and this coin features a depiction of Edinburgh Castle, as well as the City of Edinburgh's Coat of Arms. The edge of the coin reads NISI DOMINUS FRUSTRA, which is the latin motto of Edinburgh meaning "Except the Lord in Vain".
