This five pound proof silver coin minted to celebrate the 75th Birthday of King Charles III comes presented in a beautiful Royal Mint box. This is the 2023 75th Birthday piedfort proof silver Crown, double the thickness of the normal Crown coin.
Born on November 14, 1948, at Buckingham Palace, Charles Philip Arthur George, now King Charles III, ascended the throne on September 8, 2022, following over 70 years as the heir apparent. Passionate about the arts, architecture, and environmental causes, he champions sustainability by working harmoniously with nature. Celebrating his 75th birthday, this coin features a design by Royal Mint's Dan Thorne which has been personally approved by The King. It features the King's royal cypher, with the number 75, framed by oak leaves and delphiniums.
This proof coin is made of 925 Sterling Silver and has a diameter of 38.61mm, being a piedfort coin it is twice the usual thickness of a £5 silver crown. As a proof coin, it has a highly polished finish and is struck multiple times with specially prepared dies to give it a sharp, detailed design. The coin comes in a protective presentation case with a booklet about the coronation, making it an ideal gift for collectors and enthusiasts to mark this memorable day. The edge of the coin bears the inscription 'RESTORING HARMONY WITH NATURE,' embodying His Majesty's commitment to environmental harmony.
