This Royal Mint Gold box set features a Proof Double Sovereign (£2 coin), Sovereign and Half Sovereign.
The 2003 Two Pound collectable coin marked the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the structure of DNA, as Francis Crick and James Watson finally detailed how DNA was structured (the famous double helix) and what this structure was comprised of while in their Cambridge University lab.
The front of the coin bears Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of the Queen, while the back is the structure of DNA as designed by sculptor John Mills, who the Royal Mint used to create five coins for them over the years. The design has a large double helix across it, with the strands of chromosomes between them. The lettering signifies the four basic building blocks of DNA strands, while the edge of the coin features an incuse (stamped) inscription which reads DEOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID, along with a small double helix.
Complete with its own Certificate of Authenticity. Bound in a good looking leatherette case.
