This coin will be struck using 22 carat gold, and as a Piedfort (double thickness) Sovereign will weigh 15.98 grams. This coin is struck to Proof quality for a highly detailed finish. The Memorial Piedfort Sovereign has a maximum coin mintage of 2,032 coins.
The 2022 Memorial Proof Piedfort Sovereign is the first of this iconic British coin series to feature the new King Charles III portrait by Martin Jennings. The reverse of each coin features a beautifully intricate depiction of the Royal Arms by Jody Clark, and marks the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
