Description

The Edward Jenner 2023 UK £2 silver proof piedfort coin is a stunning collectible coin that pays tribute to the pioneering work of Dr. Edward Jenner 'the father of immunology' and discoverer of the first vaccine for smallpox.

The coin is struck in 925 silver with a proof finish, giving it a beautiful mirror-like surface and a frosted design. As a piedfort coin it is double the usual thickness and contains twice the amount of silver of a regular £2 coin.

The outer rim of the coin is plated in gold giving an attractive two-tone effect. The £2 coin's reverse depicts a representation of the smallpox vaccine, surrounded by icons representing the millions of lives saved. The obverse of the coin features the portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings.

The coin comes in a presentation case with a booklet recounting the life and work of Edward Jenner. With a limited mintage of only 2,500 pieces, this coin is sure to be highly sought-after.
