2019 Royal Mint £25 gold coin celebrating the Gold Standard of currency established in the United Kingdom in 1816. This coin contains one-quarter troy ounce (7.77 grams) of fine gold. This coin is 99.99% (24 carat) gold.

The reverse of the coin features a scales design referencing the gold standard and how measurements were made to ensure accuracy. The engraver initials DME appear near the right hand side.

The obverse side of the coin bears the fifth portrait of Elizabeth II, as designed by Royal Mint designer Jody Clark. The Queen's head is surrounded by a guilloche pattern, designed to dissuade any attempts to counterfeit the coin.

This side also states the £25 face value, meaning the coin technically classes as legal tender. Due to this status these coins are Capital Gains Tax exempt.
