This proof American gold coin has a face value of $5 and celebrates the 1988 Olympic Games, held that year in Seoul, South Korea.
The $5 contains .2419 troy-ounces of gold, or 7.53 grams. It was issued by the US Mint from West Point, New York (indicated by the W mark), with an issue total of 281,465 coins.
Elizabeth Jones and Marcel Jovine designed the obverse and reverse respectively. On the front, the Lady Liberty imitates the goddess of victory, Nike, and the on the reverse is a flame below the Olympic rings.
This proof coin has been graded by the PCGS at PF69 rating..
