A rare Russian  5 Rouble Gold coin, dated 1884, and from the reign of 'Aleksandr' the Third (Alexander III). As of March 2020, only three examples have been graded by PCGS or NGC grading companies as higher grade. The Cyrillic letters 'СПБ' (which we have represented through their similarity to the English letters 'CNB') show that this coin was minted at the Saint Petersburg Mint.

The text reads '5 рублей 1884 С.П.Б.' (5 Roubles 1884 Saint Petersburg Mint).

Around: '1 золотник 39 долей чистаго золота ' (1 Zolotnik of 39 parts pure gold).

The imperial, double-headed eagle of Russia. This design features a two-headed eagle clutching an orb and sceptre, with a crown above both heads. At the centre of the eagle is the national shield of Russia showing Saint George the Victorious on horseback, with various other shields within the eagle's wings.
