George IV Bare Head 1825 - 1830
The second design of Sovereigns to be produced featuring George IV and minted between 1825 and 1830 was known as the 'Bare Head' version, due to the lack of a crown in the portrait. The uncrowned version bore engraver marks for Pistrucci (BP), Merlen (JBM), and the Mint's Master, William Wellesley Pole (WWP). George IV Bare Head Sovereigns are quite rare, and sell at prices above their metal value depending on condition.
