Rwanda African Ounce
Issued by Rwanda, the African Ounce series celebrates some of the iconic wildlife of the continent. These coins are struck by the Bavarian State Mint, in 999 fine silver to the classic troy ounce size.
Each coin features a topographic map of the continent, alongside one of the famous animals. Coins so far have included the Crocodile and Gorilla. The obverse of the coins bears the Rwandan coat of arms along with the text 'Central Bank of Rwanda' and the value of one hundred Rwandan Francs written in Kinyarwanda. Rwanda African Ounce Coins
The African Ounce series is issued for Rwanda and takes a different African animal as its subject each year, running through species such as the mountain gorilla, the rhinoceros and the cheetah. It is struck in Germany by the Bavarian state mint.
The series sits alongside the Somalian African Wildlife coins as one of the two long-running African-themed bullion ranges produced in Europe, and like that series it is bought for the changing design as much as for the silver.
