George V 1911 - 1932
Our specific year George V Sovereigns are selected from only the finest condition coins in our stocks and will be significantly higher in grade compared to our specific head Sovereigns. We aim for a coin grade of EF+ (extremely fine and above). Exceptional or rare coins will be listed with the photograph of the actual coin rather than a generic picture.
George V Sovereign Coin
King George V Sovereign coins featured a range of mint marks, similar to those struck for Queen Victoria and King Edward VII, due to the multitude of international Royal Mint refineries in operation across the British Empire - England, Australia, Canada, India and South Africa.
The coins also featured engraver marks from George Kuger Gray (K.G.), Bertram Mackennal (B.M.), Percy Metcalfe (P.M.) and of course Benedetto Pistrucci (B.P.).
Ruling for just 21 years, there are still millions of George V Sovereigns, with the £1 coin being used throughout the British Empire as circulating currency. These coins remain an excellent investment, while specific-year and mint coins offer collectors the opportunity to complete their set.
