The Maple Leaf is a 24 carat bullion coin weighing one troy ounce, although it is also available in half, quarter, tenth and twentieth ounce denominations. You can buy Maple Leaf and Maple denomination coins conveniently and securely at BullionByPost.

The Gold Maple Leaf coin is issued by the Royal Canadian Mint from their Winnipeg plant. The Canadian Mint is also responsible for foreign coins, such as centavos for Cuba, kroner for Norway, and other offerings for the likes of New Zealand and Barbados.

Introduced in 1979 to rival the Krugerrand, the Maple is one of the most famous and recognisable bullion coins in the world, featuring the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and the Canadian Maple Leaf on the reverse. It has a face value of 50 Canadian dollars.

In 2007, five Maple Leaf coins with a face value of one million dollars were produced, each weighing 100kg (3215 troy ounces) of 24 carat gold. One of these was stolen in 2017 from a museum in Berlin.
