Mexican Gold Coin History

The Mexican Mint has existed since 1535 following a decree by the Spanish Crown for the creation of America's first mint. The mint's coins circulated across the American continent into the 1800's. Since 1983, and continuing to this day, all coins are produced in San Luis Potosi and are typically commemorative in nature.
