Belgian Gold Coin History
The coins of Belgium were largely the coins of the ruling country. The most readily available Belgian coins are of the Franc denomination. These typically show Leopold I or Leopold II. In more recent years though Belgium produces ECU coins as part of its membership in the European Economic Community.
The Royal Mint of Belgium operated between 1832-2017. Since 2018 however, the euro coin has become the official legal currency of Belgium, and their coins are now minted by the Netherlands.
