UAE Gold Coin History
The UAE has traces of habitation dating back to the very emergence of humanity. It became a British Protectorate in 1819 and was known as the Trucial States. After declaring independence in 1971 six of the emirates joined, and the seventh a year later.
The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates was founded shortly after declaring independence and is responsible for the production of currency and commemorative gold coins.
