Singaporean Gold Coin History
Singapore was founded as a trading post of the East India Company in 1819 before being ceded to the British Raj when the company collapsed. During World War II Singapore was occupied by Japan. It gained independence from Britain by joining Malaysia but separated from the latter just two years later due to ideological differences.
