This 2002 gold Proof £5 coin (aka Quintuple Sovereign, or Crown) was issued to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Proof coins are struck twice to ensure greater clarity of detail compared to their bullion counterparts.
The coin is 22-carat gold or 916.7 purity. It contains 36.613 of fine gold, with an additional amount of metal - usually copper - added to provide extra resilience against damage.
