The 2023 Britannia quarter ounce gold coin is made of 24-carat gold (999.9 fineness), and features His Majesty King Charles III. It contains a quarter of a troy ounce (7.775 grams) of fine gold and has a face value of £25 meaning that it is exempt from capital gains tax (CGT) for UK investors.
This will be the first 1/4oz gold Britannia coin to feature the King Charles III portrait by Martin Jennings. The reverse design is the secure lady Britannia design first issued in 2021 which includes the Royal Mint's advanced security measures, such as:.

- Britannia's shield has additional line work detailing
- Inner rim with additional Latin text
- Padlock/trident changing hologram
