The 2024 Australian Kookaburra 10oz silver coin from Perth Mint.

The Australian silver Kookaburra has been a core series from the Perth Mint since it's launch 1990. These coins are popular with collectors due to their beautiful annual designs showcasing the iconic bird of the Australian outback.

Each year, the Perth Mint releases a new design featuring a depiction of a kookaburra, the 2024 release features a kookaburra flying across a canyon with a snake in its talons. Snakes are a surprising part of a kookaburra's diet and this one is about to suffer the unhappy future of being 'softened' against a rock or hard tree before being eaten whole. The design also includes the inscription 'KOOKABURRA', as well as the coin's weight, purity, design year, and a special 'P125' mintmark representing 125 years since the Perth Mint's founding. In addition a special laser-engraved letter 'P' can be found with a magnifying glass as an authentication feature.
