The sculptor's initials, 'J.C', are visible at the bottom of the head.

The inscription on the coin reads 'ELIZABETH II.D.G.REG.F.D'.

Reverse: The reverse of the 2017 1oz Gold Britannia features the classic figure of Lady Britannia, designed by Philip Nathan, with the text 'NATHAN' at the bottom of the coin.
